Three levels of certification, accredited by the World STEM Federation, built so your own teachers can run the lab rather than depending on a visiting facilitator forever.

Quick answer

NASCA teacher certification has three levels: Certified STEAM Facilitator, Certified Domain Specialist and Certified Lab Lead. Each is accredited by the World STEM Federation, assessed through observed teaching and a marked portfolio, and renewed annually.

Teachers are marked on the same six parameters as students, and every certificate carries a verifiable ID.

Three levels

Certified STEAM Facilitator

40 hours

Who it is for. The teacher who will run weekly sessions across a grade band.

What it covers. Session craft, kit handling and safety, question-led teaching, running a build log, and marking on the six parameter rubric without drifting.

How it is assessed. Two observed sessions with real students and a marked portfolio of five student projects.

Certified Domain Specialist

60 hours per sub-stream

Who it is for. The teacher who owns one technology sub-stream in depth, for example AI, robotics or cyber security.

What it covers. The full grade progression in the chosen sub-stream, the tooling, common student failure points, and how to set briefs that cannot be solved by copying.

How it is assessed. A built capstone in the sub-stream, defended live, plus a taught unit designed and delivered.

Certified Lab Lead

80 hours

Who it is for. The person accountable for the lab, the timetable and the other facilitators.

What it covers. Lab setup and inventory, timetabling across sections, moderation between teachers, competition preparation, and reporting to leadership and parents.

How it is assessed. A moderation exercise across three teachers' marking, a term plan, and an inspection ready lab audit.

Marked on the same six parameters as the children

A teacher who has been assessed on the rubric marks with it accurately. That is the whole reason we use one standard for both. The portfolio and the observed sessions are scored on these:

Accredited and verifiable

Certification is issued under our World STEM Federation accreditation. Each certificate carries an ID, so a parent, a board or a future employer can confirm it in seconds rather than taking a PDF on trust.

Certification is priced per teacher per year and renews alongside the school partnership, so a lab never quietly falls out of standard.

Questions we get

Who accredits NASCA teacher certification?

The World STEM Federation. NASCA holds that accreditation and the teacher certificates are issued under it.

How are teachers assessed?

On the same six parameter model used for students: Concept, Application, Structure, Development, Programming and Analytical Skills, and Presentation. It would be dishonest to hold teachers to a softer standard than the children.

Can a certificate be verified?

Yes. Every certificate carries an ID that anyone can check on the NASCA verification page, including a school considering a hire.

Does the certification expire?

It renews annually. Renewal is a short refresher and a moderation check, so the standard holds as the curriculum moves.

Do teachers need a computer science background?

No. Most of our certified facilitators came from science, mathematics or design. The programme starts from teaching craft and builds the technical depth on top of it.
