Internet of Things at NASCA is a hands-on, project-led specialisation for Middle, Senior. Students learn Stream data to cloud, Build live dashboards, Handle network failure and explore careers in IoT Architect, Smart-City Engineer, Embedded Systems Engineer. The four-stage journey runs across a full academic year and is World STEM Federation accredited.

Grade 6–12: Sensors on the wall, data in the cloud, dashboards the whole school reads.

The idea

IoT is the step where a circuit stops being a toy on a desk and becomes infrastructure. Students connect microcontrollers to cloud platforms over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and RFID, stream live readings, and visualise them on dashboards anyone in the school can open. They learn about sampling rates, power budgets, offline behaviour and what happens when a device loses the network, which is where most real projects fail. Every senior project is framed around a Sustainable Development Goal and installed somewhere on campus.

Class-Air Live

A live air-quality network across the school, with each classroom owning a sensor node and its own dashboard.

Why it matters

IoT is where a school project becomes infrastructure. Children learn that the hard part is not getting a reading, it is keeping a device honest and running for months.

The honest answers to the questions families ask us most.

Is student data collected?

No. Projects sense environments such as air, light, sound level and temperature, never individuals, unless a consented health project is supervised.

Does it need school IT approval?

A guest network or a dedicated SSID is usually enough. We provide the technical note your IT team will ask for.

What if the Wi-Fi is poor?

Devices are built to buffer offline and upload later. Handling that is part of the curriculum, not a workaround.

What happens after the year ends?

Working installations are handed to the next cohort with maintenance notes, which is how a school ends up with real infrastructure.
